Who: Suzanne Graham, Cataloging Services Librarian
Meet Jen Wolf Suzanne Graham
The
Law Library is pleased to welcome Jen Wolf to the Cataloging
Department. As a technical editor/writer with an interest in
information architecture (and an MA in Professional Writing from UMass
Dartmouth), Jen has recently crossed the bridge into library and
information science, drawn to current and emerging issues in the
organization, storage, and management of information. There is likely a
Master's in Library and Information Science (MLIS) in her future.
Still a New Englander at heart, Jen is a die-hard Red Sox fan and
prefers Dunkin Donuts (no flavuh, no shugah) to Krispy Kreme. Beyond
that, she is a confirmed information junkie.
Loves: her pets, hiking, gardening, reading.
Dislikes: rhetorical extremes and bad grammar in daily newspapers.
If you see Jen, please welcome her to the UGA Law Library. She’ll be
helping to process our new volumes quickly and assisting in special
cataloging projects.
WOW! Encore: Discover the Power of Library Search Carol Watson
It's time for you to have an entirely new library experience!
If you want an improved search for library materials, the answer is Encore.
Now, for the first time, you can move easily beyond Gavel to online discovery.
Encore, our new library search engine, makes it possible. Similar in
look and feel to current web-based search engines such as Google, it
enables us to become the ultimate destination for all your search and
research needs. Encore leverages new Web 2.0 technologies and makes
finding as simple as searching.
Encore is a powerful and information-rich tool that is loaded with useful features such as:
Content & discovery from one single point of access.
Facets and Tag Clouds focus your search by format, subject headings, language, and publication date.
Most relevant results and suggested titles are highlighted.
Recently Added items are prominently displayed.
Rich details just a click away.
With just one mouse click, you gain access to a comprehensive set of
library resources. Visit Encore today and experience the new power of
library search.
FAQ:
Does Encore replace Gavel?
No, the traditional Gavel catalog will still be available for those who
prefer to use it instead of Encore. Encore performs a keyword search,
so if you want to search by ISBN, call number, etc. you should continue
to search using the traditional Gavel search box.
What does Encore search?
Encore performs a keyword search against the same bibliographic records
used by the traditional Gavel catalog search, but retrieves relevant
information in a display that fully leverages the rich data contained
in our records.
How do I search Encore?
Visit Gavel and you'll find Encore right below the Keyword search box. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
