Movies at the Law Library
Movies? At the Law Library?

We have recently expanded the DVD collection at the Law Library. Now located behind the reference desk, the collection includes documentaries, instructional material, and popular movies like The Godfather, A Few Good Men, Thurgood, and My Cousin Vinny.
All of the DVDs may be checked out for 3 days.  Take a minute to browse the collection or click here for a full list of the DVDs that we have for your enjoyment.  We would love to hear your suggestions for DVDs that you think we should add to the collection.  Please leave your suggestions at the circulation desk.

Law Library Makes Historic Georgia Codes Available Online

You might be surprised how often people expect an attorney to know the “current law” on any given topic. You might also be surprised how often an attorney has to research the historical development of a current law. The Law Library has recently worked with LYRASIS, a library collaborative organization, to make available the historic Georgia codes beginning with 1799. Technically speaking the early titles were not codes but compilations by private individuals. The 1860 code was authored by T.R.R. Cobb, one of the founders of the Law School. These materials will be permanently and publicly available on the Internet Archive. Links are available in our research guide for State Law Resources.

New Displays

Keep an eye out for our changing book displays in the Law Library's Reading Room, just to the right of the doors leading to the Annex.

Last month the area featured a display honoring Black History Month. Currently, we are displaying materials about international criminal courts in support of the Rusk Center lecture on war crimes tribunals. Look soon for a display to commemorate Women's History Month.

And remember: you can check out the materials in these displays!

This month's Law Dawgs are Turnip Greens and Collard Greens, who share a home with 3Ls James Purcell and Stefanie Mueller Purcell.

These Law Dawgs are Red-Eared Sliders, a species native to the North Georgia Mountains. They enjoy finger biting, hissing and basking in the sun.
