Comer and Smith receive Distinguished Service Scroll Awards

They were selected by the Law School Association to receive Distinguished Service Scroll Awards for their selfless dedication to the legal profession and the School of Law.

End Date: 2005-06-12 A memorial service for Richard V. Wellman, Robert Cotten Alston Professor Emeritus, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church at 185 E. Hancock St. Professor Wellman, who died on Friday, served as an active member of the faculty from 1974 until his retirement in 1990. In retirement, he continued his long-time work with the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. Serving as a Commissioner since his original appointment in 1969, he was the Reporter for the Uniform Probate Code, one of the Conference's most widely adopted pieces of legislation which is law in over 20 states. Professor Wellman taught for a number of years at the University of Michigan, his alma mater, before joining Georgia Law. His primary teaching fields were Property Law and Trusts and Estates. The family has asked that memorial contributions be directed to the Uniform Law Foundation, 211 E. Ontario St., Suite 1300, Chicago, IL 60611
