Georgia Law professors participate in 2012 SEALS Conference

Nine Georgia Law professors were invited to participate in the 2012 Southeastern Association of Law Schools Annual Conference as discussants and speakers for various workshops. The 65th annual conference took place July 29 - August 4 and featured panels, discussion groups and other presentations focusing on scholarship, teaching and service.

Abstract

Nine Georgia Law professors were invited to participate in the 2012 Southeastern Association of Law Schools Annual Conference as discussants and speakers for various workshops. The 65th annual conference took place July 29 - August 4 and featured panels, discussion groups and other presentations focusing on scholarship, teaching and service.

Participants included:

  • Assistant Professor Mehrsa Baradaran - Discussant in the workshop "Current Issues in Consumer Financial Protection and Financial Regulation."
  • Associate Professor Elizabeth Weeks Leonard - Speaker in the workshop on health law titled "Health Care, Health Law, and Rhetoric" as well as a discussant in another workshop on health law titled "Implementing Health Care Reform-What the Headlines Missed."
  • Associate Professor Hillel Y. Levin - Served as a mentor to a new scholar as part of the conference and presented on a panel called "Incorporating Legal Research into the Doctrinal Classroom."
  • Director of Advocacy Kellie Casey Monk - Speaker in the workshop on constitutional law titled "Promoting Advocacy Training at Non-Advocacy Schools."
  • Associate Professor Usha Rodrigues - Speaker in the workshop on business law titled "Recent Developments in Corporate Governance."
  • Talmadge Chair Peter B. "Bo" Rutledge - Discussant in the workshop on internationalization titled "Transnational Litigation."
  • Assistant Professor Logan E. Sawyer III - Presented a paper titled "National League of Cities and the origins of the New Federalism.”
  • Cobb Professor David E. Shipley - Discussant in a roundtable on the topic of "Law Professors as Faculty Athletics Representative."
  • Associate Professor Sonja R. West - Discussant in the workshop on constitutional law titled "President Obama and the Courts: The Appointment Process."
