Abstract
[T]he faculty of the Law School discussed and on two separate occasions approved the conversion of the Law School from a quarter system to a semester system. The last official vote favoring conversion was given at the School of Law Faculty Retreat held on September 17, 1981 at the UGA Botanical Gardens. At the behest of Dean Beaird a special Semester Conversion Committee was created. The committee was composed of Professors Kurtz, Pearson, Wells, and Phillips, Chairman. The Committee has met on several occasions and reviewed materials from other schools that have recently converted from the quarter system to the semester system. Particular attention was given to the conversions at Emory, Mercer, Minnesota, and Tennessee. In the four schools previously mentioned, conversion to the semester system was made by the law schools while other programs at the respective universities continued under the quarter system.
