"Is War in Iraq Legal? International Law and Preemptive Military Strikes"
Recent events in Iraq have brought to the forefront questions regarding the substance and relevance of international law and the commitment of states to comply with international obligations.
Duke University School of Law's Michael Byers, one of the world's leading experts on international law and the use of force by states, will take up these important and timely questions on Monday, March 31, at 2 p.m. in the University of Georgia Chapel.
The event is open free to the public and is sponsored by UGA's Center for International Trade and Security; Dean Rusk Center-International, Comparative and Graduate Legal Studies; and School of Public and International Affairs' International Affairs Council.
