Registration closed for public interest law conference and keynote address by former U.S. Sen. John Edwards

ATHENS, Ga. – Due to overwhelming response, registration has been closed for the Working in the Public Interest Law Conference and its keynote address to be delivered by former U.S. Sen. John Edwards on Friday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m.

For those unable to gain entry to the university's Chapel for Edwards' speech, the School of Law has arranged for his remarks to be carried live on UGA's cable channel, Channel 15, on Charter Communications. Large screen monitors will be used in two law school classrooms, rooms G and J (also numbered 358 and 347), in Hirsch Hall for conference participants wanting to see the presentation.

For those who would like to attend panel discussions or roundtables during the two-day conference, walk-up attendance is welcome. However, meals associated with conference registration will not be provided to those registering after Monday, April 3.

The Working in the Public Interest Law Conference will include a variety of panel discussions and roundtables on issues relating to poverty law, addressing topics such as immigration, health care, homelessness, education, community economic development, indigent defense and government benefits.
