School of Law wins Best Draft Award at transactional law negotiation competition

Abstract

Congratulations to third-year students Andrew J. "Andy" Klemm and Savannah B. Phinney who won the Best Draft Award and finished as first runner-up for their representation of a buyer in a complex M&A transaction at the first-ever virtual transactional law negotiation competition, which was originally scheduled to be held at the University of Denver recently. The pair was assisted by third-year student Ethan J. Rode.

Clinical Professor & Business Law and Ethics Program Director Carol Morgan, who advised the team, said the students worked for several months drafting and marking up transactional documents to prepare for the tournament. "Having a negotiation competition with other remote teams and judges via Zoom was a learning experience in and of itself!" she said. "I am especially proud of these students for excelling in this competition."
