Abstract
Translation of Document No. NG-1019 A
On July 20, 1944, Count von Stauffenberg placed the bomb in Hitler's headquarters near Berchtesgaden. Hitler is pictured here a few days later visiting other victims of the explosion. Thousands of suspects were rounded up by the Gestapo. The most important defendants were put on trial in the People's Court in Berlin, presided over by the fanatical Judge Freisler. The entire proceedings were recorded on film by the Ministry of Propaganda and represent the first photographic evidence of Nazi justice.
