The theme of the 33rd annual Red Clay Conference is “Environmental Justice for All.” The Conference will be on Thursday March 18th and Friday March 19th from 11:00AM to 1:30PM both days through Zoom Webinar. Thursday’s panel will discuss environmental justice issues in Georgia, and the Peter Appel Honorary Keynote will be farmer, educator, author, and food sovereignty activist Leah Penniman. Penniman is also the Co-Founder, Co-Director, and Program Manager of Soul Fire Farm. Friday’s panel will discuss environmental justice issues nationally, and the Peter Appel Honorary Keynote will be environmental scientist, professor, and National Environmental Advisory Council member Dr. Na’Taki Osborne Jelks. Osborne Jelks is also the Co-Founder and board chairperson of the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance. Georgia lawyers can earn 4 CLE credits from the event.
Organized by law students who are members of Environmental Law Association, the Red Clay Conference aims to increase public awareness of environmental issues of regional, national and international significance through a series of educational presentations and open forum discussions.
