Abstract
I FIRST met Meade Feild when I was a member of the Mercer University Law School Freshman Class of 1989. That class quickly made a reputation at the School as being a "good" class, and it is not immodest to say that the years have proved this evaluation to have been solid and accurate. We were all children of the depression, and not one of us was at law school without some sacrifice. We had seen, and were to see, hard times and bad times, but this is not to say that we were hard- bitten or in any way deprived. The fact is as one looks back and attempts to recapture the outlook of long-lost youth, the emotion that arises is one of pure wonder at how really callow and naive we were. We came to study law as our coequals at other schools went to study public accountancy or hotel management. Lawyers we thought did pretty well; they seemed to be respected and by comparison prosperous. We would study law and do just as well.
