Abstract
PERHAPS the most important task of the trial lawyer is communicating with his jury. Because jurors are the triers of fact, it is crucial that counsel place before them all the relevant facts favorable to his client. Any lawyer not thoroughly familiar with the rules of evidence stands mute before the jury. It is the law of evidence which enables the advocate to speak, in a legal sense, to the jurors. Thus, undoubtedly the teacher of evidence law instructs the young lawyer in the language of his trade. All the facts in the world are useless to the trial advocate unless they can be properly presented to the jury.
