Abstract

On May 16, 1992 Ralph Nader delivered the commencement address to the School of Law graduating class at 10 AM in a ceremony on the lawn of UGA's north campus quad just outside the front entrance of the law school's Hirsch Hall and Law Library.

This recording was originally captured to VHS at the event. The repository record in Digital Commons now includes audio and video streaming, a list of other noted speakers for the day's commencement program, and an attached photograph of Nader at the podium. This digitized video is a compilation of the day's events and not the complete address recording. The audio-only version of Nader's full speech is attached to this record.

Other speakers audible in the digitized audio recording of this commencement ceremony or named in the introduction include:

  • Julius M. Hulsey (J.D. 1963), the 1992 president of the Law School Alumni Association and then special assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia
  • UGA's 20th president Charles B. Knapp
  • Former Law School Dean Ron Ellington
  • 1992 Law School class president Stephanie Stuckey
  • 1992 Law School class vice president Kelly Hollis
  • 1992 Graduate Legal Studies director Frederick Hussack
  • 1992 School of Law Marshall Dr. Mark Galvin
  • Honorary Marshalls professors Larry Blount and Rebecca White
  • Athens-Clarke County Sheriff Jerry L. Massey
