School of Law on the rise and building momentum

Tuesday, March 12, 2019

The 2020 U.S. News & World Report law school rankings have been released. We are proud to share that the University of Georgia School of Law is on the rise, moving up an extraordinary five positions to #27.

While this is fantastic news, even more exciting is the building momentum toward our vision to be the nation’s best return on investment in legal education. With your support, our law school and its alumni/alumnae leadership are executing on a strategy to achieve that goal. With your commitment, not only has the School of Law risen in the U.S. News rankings, it has been named the #1 best value in legal education for the first time in its history. We currently rank 14th in the nation for 2017 graduates with high-value jobs, boast Georgia’s highest first-time July bar passage rate for five straight years, and rank in the top 20 for federal clerkships. Thanks to your financial investment, we are doing all of this while holding the line on tuition, reducing the average borrowing of our students, and expanding financial aid for veterans, first-generation college graduates and other critical cohorts. As a member of the University of Georgia law school community, I hope you will join in the celebration of these achievements and, more importantly, the impact on the next generation of lawyers and leaders. I look forward to seeing many of you in Athens for our Alumni/Alumnae Weekend on March 29-30.
