Abstract
School of Law fundraising reaches $6.75 million
Tuesday, July 18, 2017On June 30, 2017, the School of Law closed the books on a successful fiscal year. Completing another 12 months in the Commit to Georgia campaign, law school supporters contributed $6.75 million in new gifts and pledges; totaling more than $25.6 million toward the School of Law’s overall campaign goal. Through the dedicated support and efforts of the entire law school community, the School of Law is well on its way to surpassing its $43 million goal by June 30, 2020.
Law school graduates and friends committed more than $5.2 million via endowed, unrestricted and planned gifts, and following the momentum of last year’s successful Challenge Fund campaign, the annual Law School Fund surpassed $1.1 million in new gifts for only the second time in its history. While this fund includes support for faculty research, student programs and experiential learning, it remains the single largest source for law student scholarships at the University of Georgia.
Investing in the School of Law through major giving is critical to the long term success of this institution. Annual giving makes an immediate difference in recruiting the best and brightest, and these donors are changing lives for generations to come. The School of Law is grateful for the support of the 1,702 individuals who gave during the 2017 fiscal year and welcomes to the community the 330 new donors who are committed to excellence in legal education and the law school’s mission to prepare, connect and lead.
