UGA law school brings international law scholars to campus to share latest work

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia School of Law will bring several international law scholars to Athens this spring to share their latest research as part of the revival of the school’s International Law Colloquium Series. These global legal experts will present substantial works-in-progress on topics such as cybersecurity, global economics, human rights, international courts and refugees. Both upper-level law students and faculty engage with these prominent scholars during their time on campus.

Spring 2017 International Law Colloquium Series speakers include:

  • E. Tendayi Achiume, Assistant Professor of Law, UCLA School of Law, International Law and Xenophobic Anxiety.
  • Melissa J. Durkee, Assistant Professor of Law, University of Washington School of Law, The Global Norms Market.
  • Duncan B. Hollis, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Beasley Professor of Law, Philadelphia's Temple University Beasley School of Law, Constructing Norms for Global Cybersecurity.
  • Neha Jain, Associate Professor of Law and McKnight Land-Grant Professor, University of Minnesota Law School, Radical Dissents at International Criminal Courts.
  • Benedict Kingsbury, Becker Professor of Law and director of the Institute for International Law and Justice, New York University School of Law, Contested Megaregulation: Global Economic Ordering After TPP (via video conference).
  • Javier Dondé Matute, Professor, National Institute of Criminal Sciences, Mexico City, Mexico, Criminal Responsibility as a Founding Principle of International Criminal Law.
  • Sergio Puig, Associate Professor of Law and director of the International Economic Law and Policy Program, University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, Blinding International Justice.
  • Jonathan Todres, Professor of Law, Georgia State University College of Law, Human Rights Education: Traversing Legal and Geographical Boundaries.
