UGA sweeps regional round of the National Moot Court Competition

Abstract

The University of Georgia School of Law recently swept the Region 5 round of the National Moot Court Competition. Third-year students Tyler D. Fabbri, Mollie M. Fiero and Devin Mashman won the regional title and the Best Brief Award, and Fiero was named the Best Oralist of the final round.

This trio will represent UGA in February 2021 at the national tier of the tournament, where they will defend the 2020 National Moot Court Competition title the School of Law captured earlier this year.

"I could not be more pleased with our team and their efforts and preparation," School of Law Advocacy Director Kellie Casey said. "New faculty member Anna Howard, who is a former moot court team member, greatly contributed to our team's success. Additionally, we had tremendous faculty and alumni support helping to prepare our team for the tournament and our alums volunteered to judge the regional competition. Thank you, Law Dawg nation!"

The National Moot Court Competition is the oldest and most prestigious moot court competition in the country. Each year, teams from more than 120 law schools across the nation compete in this contest, which is sponsored by the New York City Bar Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers.

UGA has won this coveted competition title four times.
