Wilbanks CEASE Clinic receives grant to provide holistic services

Abstract

The Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation Clinic has been awarded an additional $75,900 under the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council's TANF Grant Program for Minor Human Trafficking Services and Training to provide community-based follow up and aftercare services for survivors.

The clinic will use these funds to hire a full-time social work advocate to provide needs assessments, case management, referral services, expert opinion testimony and systems-based advocacy for the clinic's clients.

The clinic earlier this year received a $72,000 Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children grant from the CJCC.

The Wilbanks CEASE Clinic is the first of its kind in the nation, representing survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation in civil litigation and juvenile court dependency matters. The clinic not only provides direct representation to survivors, it also serves as a teaching center as part of the School of Law.
