Power-Up‽: How to be a Google Power Searcher

This session was presented on November 15, 2019 in Classroom A of Hirsch Hall at 12 noon. All students, faculty and staff were welcome to attend.

Abstract

Research and Copyright Services Librarian Stephen Wolfson presented on advanced search techniques, including how to do legal research using Google, secret search engine tools, and how to do research on the Dark Web (and why you shouldn't). Among the Google tools shared, how to find and use Google's Advanced Search, Google Scholar and Google's Data Set Search. Several useful operators were also explained and shown in a live Google demo including using file type and site specific operators. Wolfson also shared how to use Google Scholar to find full text of case law and craft a citation quicker using the left-side page number.
