The contents of the image gallery series found here are a combination of born-digital and digitized photographs from the University of Georgia Alexander Campbell King Law Library Archives and Special Collections. The selection serves to document events that took place at the School of Law over a period of more than 50 years including speaker and lecture materials, and compliments existing event records found in our Lectures and Presentations series. The presenters at many of these annual events hosted by the law school are well-known national and state political figures, as well as leading legal leaders.
Photographs from the latter part of the 20th century include former President Jimmy Carter; U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas; and U.S. Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Dean Rusk. Other important legal leaders represented in photographs include Lawrence Lessig, Brooksley Born, and Sarah Weddington. Georgia politician photographs also include former Governors Carl Sanders, Roy Barnes and Zell Miller; U.S. Senators Max Cleland and Sam Nunn; among others.
Digitization, metadata creation, and increased discoverability of a majority of this collection was made possible thanks to the subgranting program through the Digital Library of Georgia (DLG).
