Working in the Public Interest Conference wins State Bar of Georgia Law School Excellence in Access to Justice Award
Abstract
The State Bar of Georgia has awarded the law school's Working in the Public Interest Conference its 2016 Law School Excellence in Access to Justice Award. Presented by the State Bar of Georgia's Access to Justice Committee, the Young Lawyers Division and the Pro Bono Resource Center, the award recognizes the WIPI group for its "commitment to, and support for, the delivery of pro bono civil legal services to the poor and underserved communities in Georgia."
The following students and faculty members were instrumental in this year's conference and award submission: Third-year students Shaniqua L. Singleton, Anna V. Fowler and Hannah E. Allen; second-year students Katherine G. "Kate" Howard and Lesley A. O'Neill, Associate Professor and Civil Clinics Director Alexander W. "Alex" Scherr and Mediation Practicum Managing Attorney Eleanor "Ellie" Crosby Lanier.
The WIPI group proudly acknowledges one of originators of the conference - Vanessa E. Volz (J.D.'06).
The award will be officially presented in October 2016.
