À La Carte Library: Asynchronous Offerings for the Over-Scheduled Law School

Presented virtually at CALIcon2021 on June 3, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Abstract

When face-to-face events went off-limits in 2020 law schools across the country raced to create instruction in virtual spaces. In many cases, law library’s were uniquely positioned to lead by example for their institutions. However, the onset of Zoom fatigue coupled with added pandemic-related stresses quickly took hold of students, faculty and staff, forcing us to get even more creative in our approaches to not-for-credit offerings. In this session, presenters will share examples from UGA Law Library’s 2020 and 2021 experiences including:

  • adapting incoming student orientations to a completely online environment
  • designing collaborative asynchronous events with law school faculty
  • delivering pre-recorded content to students in support of career development efforts
  • developing menus of library resources and instruction for students and staff to listen/read/watch/discuss at their convenience
